David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
Born from one family’s passion for Kenya and its wilderness, the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust...
Hemingways Nairobi is ideally located to several of Nairobi’s major tourist attractions so before you fly off to the Maasai Mara or to the Indian Ocean’s ivory sands, spare a few moments to enjoy Nairobi’s sights and scenes. Stop for a trip down memory lane with a visit to the Karen Blixen Museum made famous from the award winning film Out of Africa. Enjoy a close up view of the endangered giraffes at the Giraffe Centre, whilst nearby the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust hand rears orphaned elephant and rhinos and rehabilitates them so that they can re-enter the wild. Enjoy a safari in the city as you touchdown in Kenya or for a final gamedrive before you depart and shop for those magical Kenyan souvenirs for friends and family back home. All this is possible just a short distance from Hemingways Nairobi.
For decades, the Hemingways group has been investing in the future of Kenya. As an integrated member of the close-knit Karen community, we seek to make a lasting contribution to the benefit of our communities and environment. The property is designed with discretion, in keeping with the quiet, residential neighbourhood. We operate an ingenious internal eco-system of water and energy conservation and sustainable waste management. All our produce is locally sourced and we do our utmost to showcase local farmers and growers in support of their enterprise. We also promote expert local craftsmen and artisan boutiques when our guests are looking for mementos and gifts to take home.
Within Nairobi, there are two specific community groups that Hemingways Collection supports – One Horizon and The Community Rugby Association.
